Jubilee Gift Shop

Parliamentary Estate Directorate

Grade 1 listed, Westminster Hall was built in 1097 under William II, the son of William the Conqueror and is the oldest building on the Parliamentary estate. It has played a central role in British history in and around the Hall, grew up the major institutions of the British state: Parliament, the law courts and various government offices.
Parliament is open to the public through a variety of different programmes and events and guided tours take visitors into both the Commons and Lords chambers and historic Westminster Hall.
The introduction of a new gift shop has re-established a long tradition of retailing within the hall dating back to 1339. As well as appealing to the visiting public, the new gift shop will be available to MPs and Parliamentary staff.
Located in an existing lobby space adjacent to the hall our design had to be sensitive to the historic setting and ancient building fabric whilst providing a modern, cost effective, flexible and robust scheme which is flexible and adaptable for the future. The modular design uses quality and timeless materials, bronze and dark oak that reflect the craftmanship of the hall.
Our scheme provides a backdrop and adaptable merchandising system for existing and new merchandise which has been developed around the long history of The Palace of Westminster.
