Foyles, National Bookseller of the Year in 2012, 2010 and 2008, and Children’s Bookseller of the Year in 2012 was established in 1903 and still has the largest range under one roof of any bookshop in the UK. An independent, family-owned bookseller, Foyles has become known for its wide range of books which are carefully curated to the specific needs of each of their stores’ customer base.
We worked closely with Foyles to win the lease for this high profile site within the old ticket hall situated on Waterloo station concourse. Our proposal was to create a new interior shopping environment that would preserve and integrate the original decorative interior features with the heritage of the Foyles Brand and embrace and promote the magic of physical paper books and the idea that every great journey needs a great book!
Features included a cash desk made of recycled books and chandeliers made from book pages from “Around the world in eighty days”.
